Ramón Piñeiro, Galician culture, galeguismoAbstract
This paper is focused on showing Ramón Piñeiro as the example of a man totally committed to Galicia. With an astonishing coherence and austerity he devoted his life from early youth to reflect on the fundamental problem of Galicia and he wanted to contribute to the collective promotion of the country. In a socratic manner, and mainly through conversation and the exchange of correspondence, Piñeiro wished to call all Galician people regardless of creed or party to develop the feeling of belonging to a common homeland into an explicit conception and then to express it through collective support. A calling that still lingers on today both as a necessity and as a challenge.
