My grandmother Rosa and her aunt Adolfina, traditional singers from Cerceda, watched the life they had known as young girls wither away. It had been the framework in which they had developed their art within oral tradition. People stopped congregating around community work, their children moved to the city of A Coruña, and Rosa emigrated. Their singing and dancing faded away. Rosa and Adolfina thought that their art would die with them. But that was not the case.
