Xosé María, mestre da mocidade

Abstract

The writer of the present essay, who worked at Edicións Castrelos between 1971 and 1975, tells about the role played by Xosé María Álvarez Blázquez in the cultural, national and political education of those Galician youth who in 1972 and 1973 were beginning their participation in nationalist and anti-fascist politics mainly through the Unión do Pobo Galego. The paper also dwells on a number of issues that are relevant to the life and work of Xosé María Álvarez Blázquez: literature, archaeology and history, as well as on his own personal recollections of the Spanish Republic, the Mocedades Galeguistas and the Partido Galeguista, and of Alexandre Bóveda.
