O uso lingüístico no ámbito comercial reflectido na paisaxe lingüística no centro de Santiago de Compostela

Abstract

According to the statistics, the knowledge of the Galician language is widely extended among the people of Galicia, although the percentage of people who use it regularly in their daily lives has declined. Promoting the use of Galician language in the commercial sector is a key factor for the future of this language. This is the reason why an investigation of the Linguistic Landscape of the commercial streets of Santiago de Compostela has been conducted. The data obtained from this study shows that the usage of Galician language is scarce in this sector, even though there are places in which this language is used more than in others. Through analyzing the reasons for the aforementioned fact, we may find some advice on how to revitalize Galician language.
