Abstract

It was at the begining of the seventies that Saleta Goi and Manuel María opened in Monforte de Lemos the bookshop Xistral, a place that would become a cultural hub not only for the city itself but also for Galicia as a whole. Many people found in this alternative space located away from official society a reference for reshaping themselves as new political subjects and citizens. For us young people, Xistral was like a starship which carried us straight into the depths of cosmos.
