This paper presents a bio-bibliographic review of the seven poetry books published by poet Manuel María from the early 50s to the early 60s. Specifically, it focuses on the following works: Muiñeiro de brétemas (1950), Morrendo a cada intre (1952), Advento (1954), Terra Chá (1954), Documentos persoais (1958), Libro de pregos (1962) and Mar Maior (1963).
The adopted approach is based on the concept of intertextuality coined by Bakhtin and provides several literary links between the aforementioned books and other works in order to have a better understanding of the author’s writing. Furthermore, those relations can clarify certain aspects of Manuel María’s living and literary environment in the studied period.
Lastly, it must be noted that the mode of expression used to convey these contents will have a literary style and a tendency towards symbolism and metaphor, without forgetting the rigor expected from academia and philological research.
